Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand

A new addition to the Mahi Yoga family is the Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand (currently in Chiangmai). Starting in March 2017 and certified by Yoga Alliance USA, RYS 200 hours, and 300 hours.

Thailand being known as the land of smiles; this is exactly what you will find here. Thai hospitality and friendliness make this country one of the most popular in the world to travel to. The culture is rich here and very diverse with Buddhism at its center, there are numerous temples and its ancient history to be explored. Thai’s hospitality is renowned and they welcome tourists to join in with their traditions.

Lush green rice paddies and lotus fields are scattered up and down the length of the country with white sandy beaches and tiny islands in the south and majestic mountains in the north.

Chiang Mai province is situated in the North of Thailand. Its beauty is outstanding; renowned for its stunning mountain ranges, natural beauty, and rich Lana culture. Chiang Mai city itself is a combination of modern cosmopolitan facilities, ancient temples, and a truly welcoming Thai culture. Making the city a vibrant melting pot of activity; with a friendly and blissfully relaxed pace of life.

At its center is the Old City, surrounded by its ancient walls and moat. Despite its bustling tourist scene the city is still very residential and has many quiet winding backstreets and temples to explore. Chiang Mai is renowned for its weekly markets selling any number of local crafts and kitsch Thai artwork. You can take a break from shopping and grab a street-side massage or indulge your taste buds with outstanding local Thai food.

A larger more modern city has grown up around its ancient center with air-con malls, upmarket restaurants, and trendy Thai nightlife spots.

The city edge is fringed by lush green paddy fields, pristine rain forest, and majestic mountains. A short bus ride away you will discover challenging jungle treks, cascading waterfalls, steamy hot springs and quiet hill tribe villages. You can escape the crowds to a nearby village or retreat where only the stars shine and birds sing at night.

If you like to get your adrenaline pumping there are any king of extreme sports from rock climbing, bungee jumping and white water rafting to tubing down the river, there is also the opportunity to rent a motorcycle and explore by yourself or with one of the fantastic tour companies. If you like to give back on your travels then there are a number of quality elephant sanctuaries, and charities, who work with minority groups that accept volunteers.

The yoga training will take place in an Ayurveda Ashram just outside the city. Accommodation is inside the ashram, with a choice of single occupancy or the slightly cheaper shared option. Food is vegetarian, prepared freshly in the Vedic manner and served Monday to Friday.

The Ashram has beautiful gardens, infinity pool and opportunities to experience meditation. It is surrounded by nature but within easy reach of all amenities. Here you will find the balance between peace, relaxation and the hard work and concentration you will need for your teacher training. The course is run by knowledgeable teachers from all over the world including India and the course marries traditional yogic practice with modern knowledge and teaching techniques.
